Risk Manager


Job Summary

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for this position reporting to General Manager Legal, Risk and Compliance, based on Level 7 BSP Life Centre, Thomson Street, Suva.

The Risk Manager is responsible for promoting and supporting a risk aware culture to ensure risks being taken by BSP Life are in accordance with relevant policies, frameworks and the Risk Appetite Statement approved by the Boards of BSP Life (Fiji) Limited and
BSP Health Care (Fiji) Limited. The Risk Manager is also responsible for the development and implementation of the enterprise risk management frameworks and ensuring its alignment with the vision and goals of the BSP Life (Fiji) Limited and BSP Health Care (Fiji) Limited.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide advice and analysis to General Manager Legal, Risk and Compliance on all risk matters.
• Manage, monitor, and review BSP Life Group’s Risk Management Framework, Board Risk Appetite, Risk Management Policies and Strategies
• Manage and monitor the effective implementation and operation of the ORMF, risk policies and standards including effective identification, reporting and management of key risk issues.
• Lead the identification of emerging risk issues that may affect BSP Life and develop appropriate risk policies and processes to comply with or mitigate such risks
• Prepare complaints analysis report depicting key trends, systematic issues, recommendations and areas of improvement for discussion with the Executive.
• Managing and embedding the Incident Management Process including the monitoring, provision of advice and an independent view regarding the management of incidents.
• Implement and manage risk assurance programs to measure effectiveness of processes, controls and company policies with strong oversight of medium to high-risk functions.
• Monitor effectiveness of business risk practices, highlight gaps / out of appetite risks and escalate as required.
• Support the formulation of tailored Risk and Compliance frameworks for BSP Life’s wholly owned subsidiaries and the development of capability within the entities to ensure sustainability.
• Provide operational risk signoff on new business initiatives/ projects.


Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • University Degree or equivalent business experience
  • A minimum 5 years’ experience in financial services risk management or similar role of which a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Understand BSP Financial Groups’ and BSP Life’s local jurisdiction approach to risk management or equivalent experience gained in financial services
  • Experience in developing, implementing and managing Risk Frameworks, policies and procedures including BCP and incident management.

In line with the Government’s Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) Regulations, all applicants must demonstrate that they have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or provide the necessary exemption from the Ministry of Health. This will be an essential qualification for employment.
